Quartermaster

How we decide who gets a raid drop when more than one person needs it.

How we award loot

An item is contested when two or more people in the same priority group claim it. Main-spec is checked before offspec, so one main-spec claim beats any number of offspec ones without a contest at all.

Three checks decide who receives the item, in this order.

  1. 1

    Check who can claim

A claim is a request for an item you need. Main-spec claims come before offspec. Prized items give qualified members priority within each group.

  2. 2

    Compare credit

If two or more claims remain in the selected group, the highest credit wins. If only one person claims it, the item is free: no credit is spent and no turn is used.

  3. 3

    Resolve a tie

If credit is equal, the earlier turn wins. Turns are a saved order, not a new roll for each drop.

Two more steps complete the award.

  1. 4

    Deliver the item

For a contested item, confirm delivery before changing credit or moving the winner to the back of the turn order.

  2. 5

    Record the result

Record the claims, winner, reason, delivery, and changes to credit and turns.

Everyone who claims a contested item gains an equal share of one credit, and the winner spends one credit and moves to the back of the turn order. So your credit goes up while you wait and down when you win, and over several drops the items go around the people who need them. An item that only one person claims costs nothing.

One drop, start to finish

Six raiders are in the raid. Follow one drop through the checks and watch the field narrow to a single winner.

Four people need it for their main role, and Erin would take it for an offspec. Alex and Blair have the most credit, so their turns decide it.

Check 5 of 5: Record the result

The record keeps the claims, the winner Alex, the reason, the delivery, and the changes to credit and turns.

What credit does over several drops

Alex, Blair, and Casey need the same kind of item, and three of them drop over a few raids. Each drop uses the same rule and starts from where the last one left off.

Each claimant gains a third of a credit, and the winner spends one credit and moves to the back of the turn order. Step through the drops, or change a balance or a turn first.

Credit stays in its category

Each category has a separate record of credit and turns, called a ledger. Winning in one category does not change your priority in another.

What changes in a new season?

A loot season is a gearing period announced by the guild. New-season credit starts at zero. Your old credit and turn determine your starting turn in each new ledger. Old items still use the old records.

One category at the season change. The closing ladder, sorted by credit and then by the old turn, becomes the new turn order.

The season closes

Each member closes the season with a credit balance and a turn. The balances add up to zero, as a closed ledger must.

Old-season records stay as they are. A positive balance must not start behind a negative one just because that member had an earlier old turn.
